Hi, I’m Eben.

This is me.
I’m a design director living in Los Angeles. I’m passionate about solving hard problems and synthesizing form & function to create experiences that people fall in love with.

For the past decade, I’ve focused on the future of human-computer interaction at Oblong Industries, exploring the realm of spatial, gestural, and collaborative computing in pixel-rich environments with Mezzanine.

Prior to this, I had the privilege of working at Pentagram in NYC, which led to an opportunity to co-design Sugar, the award-winning learning platform for kids pioneered at One Laptop Per Child, and now included in the permanent collection at MoMA. I also ventured into consumer product design, crafting the user experience for the litl webbook, an innovative, dual-mode internet device for the home.

I have a BFA in interactive media with a second major in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University. These dual foci illustrate my ability to employ creative and analytical approaches to complex design problems simultaneously, and my coding expertise lends unique perspective within the product development process.

With 15 years of UX experience — spanning non-profit, consumer, and enterprise markets — and over 5 years implementing design strategy, I’m uniquely suited to tackle new design challenges. Got one? I’d love to hear it!
